The settings for working with the mouse are divided into two parts. The upper part relates to painting tools such as the painting brush, the copy brush, etc. The lower part contains general settings.
Here you are able to - separately for drawing tools and the other tools - choose, whether a precise cursor (a small cross) or a special tool cursor is used.
Painting Cursor
Painting tools are using a brush (see chapter 3.3.3 and chapter 4.5.2).
Center determines which mouse pointer is used to indicate the position of the brush. The following options are available:
Outline can be used to set whether and how the brush outline is displayed:
- None: No outline is displayed.
- Both: The brush outline is displayed and if the brush does not have a hardness of 100% (see chapter 3.5), the area with full hardness is also displayed with an outline.
- Outline only: Only the outline indicating the size is displayed.
The painting tools can display a preview even if you only move the mouse over the image. This is activated with Painting Tools with Preview.
If Right Mouse Button Doesn’t Show Menu is turned on, while drawing the right mouse button doesn’t show the context menu, but activates the eraser tool. Drawing is one of the following tools from the toolbar: painting, eraser, stamp, filter brush, copy brush, finger, water, brighter tool and darker tool. Using this mode, the copy brush and the healing brush allow to set the source point with the right mouse button.
General settings
Here you can set whether a precise mouse pointer (a small cross) or a visually appealing mouse pointer (e.g. a magnifying glass when zooming) should be used for the remaining tools.
If possible PhotoLine is using the mouse cursors of the operating system. On Windows, some of these system mouse pointers are not drawn normally, but the mouse pointer inverts the current image display. If the screen content is gray, this may lead to an invisible mouse cursor. Therefore, PhotoLine offers with Use System Mouse Cursor a way to switch to mouse cursors defined in PhotoLine which don‘t have this problem.
If Scroll Image Content by Mouse Wheel is deactivated, using the mouse wheel doesn‘t scroll the window but scales the window content. Holding the Ctrl-key (Windows) or Command-key (macOS) allows to access the functionality turned off by this switch.
